Thank the commissioners!
On September 7, 2022 the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board voted 6-3 to approve the Hiawatha 9 hole plan.
We are grateful to everyone who made their voice heard in this process, from the earliest community meetings until the final vote. The amount of public input on this plan was incredible, and the end result shows that.
The park board commissioners who voted to approve the plan deserve our thanks. They showed true leadership in standing up for the lake, climate resiliency, science, and our Minneapolis human and natural communities. Please take a minute today to send them a thank-you note.
We encourage you to write your own note to them. If you would like a starting point, here is a draft to personalize:
Dear Commissioner [Commissioner’s Last Name],
Thank you for passing the Hiawatha 9 hole plan.
I believe it is the best plan we have found for the lake, for the golf course, the environment, and the people of Minneapolis. Something I particularly like about the plan is [insert something you like about it here].
Thank you for your leadership, for your careful consideration of the issues at Hiawatha, and for your tireless effort for Minneapolis.
With gratitude,

Here is a draft you can adopt:
Dear Mr. [Staff last name],
I would like to thank you for your efforts on behalf of Minneapolis, its people, and its parks. I want to particularly appreciate your persistence in shepherding the difficult and often contentious Hiawatha 9 hole plan. I know that there is still much work to be done for the city and park board to achieve equitable access and spaces for all members of our community, and I hope you will keep working toward that vision despite the difficulty of finding consensus at Hiawatha. I want to thank you for your dedicated service to the human and natural communities of Minneapolis.
With gratitude,
